About our Vehicle Products
Both our aluminum custom License Plates (also known as auto tags or vehicle tags) and our FRP plastic plate frames use the Kolorcoat™ process to transfer brilliant, hi-resolution artwork. Design Tips
- Resolution. Clean, hi-resolution artwork and photographs look best. If you have a low resolution file/image, the outcome may look pixelated and sloppy. Please keep this in mind when uploading your artwork. The larger the image, the better it will print out.
Tip: Uploading a photo much larger than the design area and scaling it down to the desired size in the Online Designer is much more effective than using a photo that "already" looks like the right size on your screen. Monitors require much less resolution than the printing process.
- Safety Margins. Please try to keep designs at least 1/8 inch away from the edge. In the production process, the product may shift slightly. Keeping it a safe distance from the edge could prevent art from getting cut off. However, we strongly recommend for license plates that you keep your text between the mounting holes as shown below. With the frames, we suggest keeping the text limited to the top and bottom larger design areas, using single lines of text only.
- Color. Bright vibrant colors with good contrasting artwork will always stand out and look great! Try to stay away from dark greys on a black background or white text on light backgrounds if you are looking to have a design that stands out. Things that may look "ok" on a computer screen may not transfer over in print as well. Your text must pop out and look clear against the background.
Tip: Imagine how well your license plate will look from the road!
- Legal Use. The responsibilty is YOURS to ensure use of your customized license plate or frame is legal to use in the area in which the vehicle will operate. Laws change constantly and this website makes no attempt to be held responsible for the currency of different regulations. While it is safe to use these products in most states, a few have strict laws regarding frames and what can and cannot be obstructed on an official plate. Content may be subject to law as well. We are not responsible for your choice of photos or text and what may result from use.
